My name is Alexander Ramos and I am the proud Founder and CEO of Lavender Ribbon Initiative. For as long as I can remember, my family has battled many types of cancers such as Pancreatic Cancer, Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and Colon Cancer. I soon came to realize that cancer is hereditary in my family, meaning my little sisters and cousins can one day develop this illness. With this in mind, I couldn’t keep my arms crossed for much longer. As I researched endlessly, I soon discovered that childhood cancer only receives 4% of national cancer funding. Due to this absurd statistic, I contacted some of my friends and we decided to create a youth organization that would raise more funds, donate items and create arts & craft projects in order for the kids to feel empowered to keep on fighting.
I have faith that LRI’s programs will unite the community and reinforce the strength of a family with a pediatric cancer patient. Lavender Ribbon Initiative was not built on the ideas and abilities of one person, it was built on the creativity and unity of the LRI Family. I hope that one day, LRI can help kids in every country in the world and every child battling this illness will know that cancer has a cure worth fighting for.
